Partnerships for Shared Prosperity

Counting over a decade of working, learning from, and interacting with our CSR partners and beneficiaries, we tailor our programs and initiatives to the needs of our times:

  • developing creative and results-oriented projects aimed at instilling a culture for innovation to address present-day concerns
  • pursuing meaningful and high-impact public-private partnerships, invoking the Filipino value of bayanihan (solidarity, community spirit)
  • strengthening engagement among our various stakeholders

Hyundai Center for Green Innovation (HCGI)

Inaugurated on May 19, 2013, this state-of-the-art knowledge center is fruit of our long-standng collaboration with Gawad Kalinga (GK). Located at the GK Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan, the HCGI was designed and built by architects and engineers commissioned by HFI.

Fusing the ethnicity of the bahay kubo (nipa hut) and the Hyundai design philosophy of Fluidic Sculpture, the architects incorporated into their design elements from nature that also symbolize the great dreams that HFI and GK share for the country: stone symbolizes the strength and stability of a shared advocacy for Green Innovation; bamboo, Filipino resilience and community spirit; and glass, the goal of HCGI to be the guide and light of the Filipino, especially the youth, to become innovators and stewards of the environment in their communities.

HCGI is now the venue of choice for “Green Camps,” training modules on best practices in environmental stewardship and innovation for academic and business communities

HARI EcoVan

HARI EcoVan

We collaborated with Haribon Foundation, the country’s pioneering environmentalist organization, to customize the Hyundai H-100 into the Philippines’ first-ever classroom-cum-exhibit-on wheels dedicated to boosting the level of awareness about the critical state of Philippine biodiversity and of the urgency to preserve and replenish the country’s natural resources.

The first HARI EcoVan was unveiled on Earth Day, April 22, 2012, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) grounds; the second one on October 12, 2012, and the third on December 16, 2013. These are assigned to reach out to schools in the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions.

Hyundai Embraces Lanao’s Partnership (H.E.L.P.)

In 2013, we partnered with Synergeia Foundation to foster continued engagement between the academe and local government units to improve access to and quality of the basic education system in the Mindanao province of Lanao del Sur. Initial support included financial assistance to establish a safe and sustainable learning environment for communities through training and capacity-building and the provision of learning materials and facilities.
St. Scholastica Mission Hospital

St. Scholastica Mission Hospital

March 2016 saw the completion and turnover of our major project with St. Scholastica’s Priory. The St. Scholastica Mission Hospital in Pambujan, Northern Samar now serves not only the basic health needs of one of the country’s poorest areas, but also provides community-based health programs that train health workers in prevention, nutrition, alternative medicine, and healing modalities.
Rainwater Harvesting System

Rainwater Harvesting System

We partnered with Better World, the CSR projects implementing partner of Hyundai Motor Company, and Youth for Sustainable Development Assembly, to introduce a sustainable source of fresh water to Tanay City, Rizal. This filtration method, which processes and stores potable water from rain gathered in roof gutters, is an invention of Professor Han Moo Young of the Engineering College of Seoul National University. Initial beneficiaries are some 200 students of Rawang Elementary School of Tanay City. With the continued support of the Tanay City government, we hope to replicate the success of this pilot project in more areas of the country, especially those that suffer from water scarcity.
